Gottfried Weise (sports journalist)
Gottfried Weise (* 1944 in Niederschöna ) is a German sports journalist .
life and career
Graduated journalist Weise, who played football as a midfielder at FC Karl-Marx-Stadt in his youth up to the age of 19 , started his professional life through a traineeship at Sächsisches Tageblatt ( Dresden ). Working as an editor in the field of football at Deutsche Sportecho , he found himself working as a reporter for GDR television . As part of the football coverage, for example, he interviewed Pelé in 1978 or Diego Maradona in 1986 and presented the broadcast football panorama more than 200 times .
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Weise first found a new employer at the sports channel in London and worked freelance for the SFB . When DSF went on the air in 1993 , he was part of the team of commentators from the start. In 1994 he switched to Eurosport .
