Bernd Schulz (born February 12, 1960 ) is a former German soccer player. In the top division of GDR football , the Oberliga , he played for BFC Dynamo .

Athletic career

Community, club and association stations

Bernd Schulz comes from the junior division of the company sports association Aktivist Welzow . In 1975 Schulz moved to BFC Dynamo , where he made the leap into the top division of the GDR record champions from summer 1979 under coach Jürgen Bogs . The midfielder established himself over many years as a regular player who made 20 or more season appearances in eight of his first nine seasons and is one of the most successful players in GDR football with nine championship titles .

Probably the best-known scene of the footballing career of the trained electromechanic was the foul penalty given after a duel with Hans Richter (95th minute) in the preliminary championship game against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig (1: 1) in March 1986. The shame penalty from Leipzig's penalties went down in history and led to the exclusion of referee Bernd Stumpf . This was an absolute novelty in GDR football at the time.

In January 1990 he ended his career at Bergmann-Borsig Berlin and was brought to 1. FC Union Berlin by his former junior coach Werner Voigt in September of this year to support the club in the ultimately unsuccessful attempt to qualify for the 2. Bundesliga . Afterwards the PFV Bergmann-Borsig Berlin and the SV Bau Union Berlin were the last stations in Schulz's career.

Selection bets

Bernd Schulz completed 15 appearances in the GDR junior team . With the DFV-U-18 he took 4th place in the youth competition of friendship in the summer of 1977 in Hungary.

With the East German youth team , he was U-21 Vice European Champion in 1980 . In the two finals against the Soviet Union , coach Bernd Stange offered him in the Rostock home game (0-0) from the start, but then waived him in the away defeat (0-1) in Moscow.

For the A national team of the GDR Schulz played three international matches in which the BFC player scored a goal. For the Olympic selection of the communications he also met once. He was called up in 14 games between 1986 and 1988 in this team. He played four games as part of qualifying for the 1988 Olympic football tournament in Seoul .
