Olaf Adamczak (born June 30, 1955 ) is a former German soccer player who was active between 1978 and 1983 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR soccer , for the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Böhlen .

Athletic career

In 1972 Olaf Adamczak was mentioned for the first time in the GDR sports press after he had played his only international match on April 30, 1972 with the GDR junior national team in the encounter between GDR and Hungary (3: 3). At that time he was a junior player at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , with whom he played in the junior league and was GDR champion in 1973/74, 1976/77 and 1977/78 under coach Heinz Joerk. In 1975/76 he completed a cup game against Rot-Weiß-Erfurt, whereupon Lok Leipzig won the cup in the following games. In the 1972/73 season he completed his first two games with the 2nd team of 1. FC Lok in the second-rate GDR league . In the two following GDR league seasons he had already played his way into the expanded player base of the 2nd team with 17 and 16 appearances respectively. 1975 Lok II was relegated to the district league . The district championship was won with Adamczak, which meant that the second team could play in the newly founded junior league from the 1976/77 season . Adamczak was used there until April 1978. During the current season he moved to the top division Chemie Böhlen and was called up there in the last four top division games. In the 1978/79 season Adamczak immediately earned a regular place and was used as a midfielder or defender until April 1979 in 18 league games in which he scored three goals. In May he had to do his military service in the National People's Army for 18 months . After his discharge from the army, he returned to Chemie Böhlen in November 1981 and played the remaining 16 league games, now consistently deployed in midfield. At the end of the season, BSG Chemie had to relegate to the GDR league, but managed to get promoted again immediately. Adamczak was involved in it with 20 of 22 GDR league games as well as in all eight promotion games and with a total of three goals. In the league season 1982/83 he was initially again a permanent midfielder before he was used in the second half of the season. He only missed two point games and scored one goal. His team failed to stay up, and so Adamczak played again in the GDR league for the next two seasons. While he was able to complete 21 of the 22 league games in 1983/84, he was only used 15 times in 1984/85. For the 1985/86 season he was transferred back to the 2nd team, but still helped them to the district championship after he then moved to the district league team Stahl Thale . Also with the new team he became district champion in 1987 and returned with her to the GDR league. There he helped Thale to a surprising 2nd place in 1988, in which he was involved with 33 of 34 league games and two goals. Also in 1988/89 Adamczak was a pillar of the team, he was missing only four point games, but scored six goals. The 1989/90 season was his last season in higher-class football, he only played eight GDR league games. After that, after 18 seasons, he was able to look back on 62 league games with four goals, 1962 GDR league games with thirteen goals and eight promotion games with one goal. He remained loyal to football as a trainer.
