Season B
Season course
The BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt and the SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde fought a duel for the title. Schwedt dominated (unbeaten) the action in season B until the winter break. The last eight game days started with a lead of four points. In these, the Schwedter only got 2 wins and 3 draws. Fürstenwalde seized the opportunity and stuck on the heels of Schwedt. On the last day of the match, the newcomer moved to the top of the table with a home win against relegated TSG Neustrelitz and the simultaneous draw of Schwedt (2-2 against BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf ) and thus qualified for the promotion round.
The fight to stay up was also exciting until the last minute. The BSG KWO Berlin since the 2nd match day on a relegation zone came to 10: 6 points after the winter break, which secured their relegation. First they sealed the relegation of Neustrelitz in a direct duel on the 25th matchday and then on the last matchday they pushed BSG Motor Babelsberg from the saving ninth place in the table. Babelsberg, who lost out to KWO due to the poorer goal difference, has to make his way into the district league after seven years . Furthermore, the BSG Rotation Berlin rose despite a good final spurt (9: 7 points after the winter break) due to the poor goal difference against KWO and Babelsberg.

Season C
Season course
Relegated from the league, BSG Chemie Böhlen , lived up to its role as a favorite and won the relay with ease. Only ASG Vorwärts Dessau was able to achieve a victory (18th matchday) against Böhlen.
Since the season was quite even, the teams played from 5th place against relegation. Newcomer BSG Lokomotive Halberstadt was the only team that lost touch early and was the first to be relegated. On matchday 20, the fifth and the tenth were separated by just 2 points. On matchday 21, the newcomer BSG Stahl Thale and BSG Chemie Zeitz saved themselves , which after the winter break had the second-best record after Böhlen with 11: 5 points. The BSG unit Wernigerode was subsequently deducted a point from the 17th matchday against Schkopau before the last matchday. As a result, just like the BSG Chemie Premnitz, they only had theoretical chances of staying in the class, as they had the much worse goal difference compared to BSG Lokomotive Stendal , SG Dynamo Eisleben and BSG Chemie Wolfen . The relegation of Premnitz was sealed at the second Dessau and Wernigerode could not save the victory in Eisleben from the district league .

Season D
Season course
Despite stubborn competition from the newcomer ASG Vorwärts Kamenz and BSG Motor Werdau , BSG Energie Cottbus lived up to its role as favorites. It was only on the last day of the match that Cottbus was able to repeat its relay victory from the previous year with a win against newcomer SG Dynamo Lübben .
The teams from BSG Progress Bischofswerda , BSG Activist Espenhain , BSG Motor "F.-H." Karl-Marx-Stadt and BSG Activist Black Pump formed the middle field, which had nothing to do with the top of the table or with relegation.
In the fight against relegation, newcomer SG Sosa had to pass first. The FSV Lokomotive Dresden , the ASG Vorwärts Plauen , the SG Dynamo Lübben and the BSG activist Brieske-Senftenberg fought doggedly for the places eligible for relegation until the last match day. There Dresden secured the class with a win against Senftenberg and Plauen with a draw at Kamenz. For Senftenberg and Lübben the path led to the district league .

The BSG Wismut Gera had the longer breath in the fight for the relay victory. She referred the BSG Motor Weimar and the BSG activist Kali Werra Tiefenort to their places. For the third time in a row, the team from Weimar finished second in the table.
With the exception of BSG Motor Rudisleben, all of the remaining teams were in the fight against relegation . The newcomer BSG WK Schmalkalden was not up to the league and was by far last. The other two relegation places were also occupied by newcomers. The BSG Motor Zeulenroda could keep at least until the 17th game day, but took only three points from their last five games. The third newcomer, whose path led back to the district league , was BSG Motor Altenburg's audience . They made an excellent start (9: 3 points), but were then continuously passed through to the rear.

Promotion lap
Season course
The FC Hansa Rostock dominated in the promotion round as well as in its season. Only against BSG Chemie Böhlen did they lose the points at 0: 2 on matchday 8. Böhlen fought with BSG Energie Cottbus for the second place in the table, which entitled to promotion, until the last matchday. In a real final for second place Cottbus only came to a draw (2: 2) in Böhlen. With this point win and the better goal difference, Böhlen also returned to the GDR league after a year . The teams of BSG Wismut Gera and SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde quickly lost contact with the promotion places and came in far behind on the last two places.
