Frank Kuhnt (born November 6, 1954 ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association . There he played for BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau and Halleschen FC Chemie .

Athletic career

At the age of 24, Kuhnt came to Schkopau in January 1979 to join the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Buna. There he first played in the second-rate GDR league and was the top scorer of his team with ten goals in his second season in 1979/80. In 1980/81 Schkopau surprisingly achieved promotion to the league. In the 22 point and eight promotion games, the 1.74 m tall Kuhnt was involved with 29 missions and this time was the top scorer of the league season C with 16 championship goals. In the promotion round he was again successful with three goals.

In the league season 1981/82 Kuhnt was used at BSG Chemie Buna in all 13 games of the first half of the season and usually played in the position of the right striker. He scored three goals. At local rivals Hallescher FC Chemie (HFC), right winger Holger Krostitz , who had to do his army service, had to be replaced at the beginning of the second half of the season. In the GDR football scene, as a football club, the HFC had Kuhnt delegated to its own team. But Kuhnt did not succeed in asserting himself in the Halle league team. Between February and August 1982 he was used in eleven out of 16 point games played, but only three were games that he completed over the full playing time. At the end of 1982 Kuhnt was delegated back to BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau.

Kuhnt had meanwhile completed a degree in engineering and played for Schkopau in the GDR league until 1985. In the summer of 1985, at the age of 30, he moved to the third-class district division Stahl Merseburg and then did not appear in higher-class football.
