Athletic career

At the age of eight, Holger Krostitz was accepted into the school team of the SC Chemie Halle . In the 1973/74 season, he played for Hallescher FC Chemie, the successor to the soccer section of SC Chemie, in the second-rate GDR league, the first point games in the GDR-wide men's game. So he was also involved in the rise of Halle in the league. For the 1974/75 season he was named for the regular squad of the league team, but only came to eight league stakes in the second half of the season. He represented Roland Nowotny, who was called up to the National People's Army , as a midfielder. He had previously played with the second team of the HFC in the third-rate district league , which rose to the GDR league at the end of the season. Although Krostitz had been announced again as a regular league player for the 1975/76 season, he was not used in the league and instead secured the second team with 16 inserts and five goals in 22 point games to keep the league. For the first time he became a regular first team player in 1976/77. Initially called up as a substitute player, he took over the position of striker Norbert Nachtweih , who had left for the Federal Republic of Germany , on the eleventh league match day . By the end of the 1980/81 season Kostritz was able to maintain his regular place as an attacker, within five seasons he missed only eight league games. Between 1978 and 1981 he was the HFC's top scorer with 43 goals. In 1979 he played three test games (one goal) with the GDR's Olympic team . In 1980 he was briefly part of the GDR national team , but was not used there. In November 1981 he was drafted into the army for 18 months. In 1983/84 he immediately took over his traditional place in the attack of the HFC with 22 league appearances. He got only two goals and the Halle residents were relegated from the league. It took two seasons to return to the league. In the first league season 1984/85 Kostritz completed 20 of the 34 point games and was again low on goal with three goals. After the second half of the 1985/86 season, he left the HFC, for which he had played 163 league games and scored 51 goals. There were also 57 games in the GDR league with 13 goals. He moved to the GDR league club Chemie Buna Schkopau , where he completed another 130 games in the GDR league by 1990 and scored 22 goals. After the German reunification, Schkopau withdrew to the association league and Holger Krostitz ended his career in high-class football.
