The Fitzroy Point is a headland that the northeastern foothills of the West Antarctic Joinville Island forms. It is located on the east side of Fliess Bay .
The British polar explorer James Clark Ross discovered them on December 30, 1842 during his Antarctic expedition (1839-1843). Ross named it as Cape Fitzroy after the British hydrograph and meteorologist Robert FitzRoy (1805-1865). After measurements by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in December 1953, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee made an adaptation of the name on September 4, 1957.
