The ASG Vorwärts Kamenz was a sports community of the army sports association Vorwärts in Kamenz , which existed from 1960 to 1990. She made a name for herself primarily in football, but also played sports such as athletics, swimming and chess. The home of the ASG was the youth stadium.

Soccer

The soccer department of ASG Vorwärts Kamenz came into being after the 1974 relegation to the third division of the 1st team of ASG Vorwärts Cottbus and their move to Kamenz. The 1st men's team of the newly founded community was classified in the Dresden District League . In 1976, the team won the Dresden District Football Cup . This success could be repeated in 1978 and 1979.

In the game year 1978/79, the ASG-Vorwärts-Cottbus successor succeeded as Dresden district champion with the earlier and later league players Wolfgang Altmann , Hans-Dieter Paulo , Peter Schöne and Roland Hammer the promotion from the third division to the lower house of GDR football . In the first season in the league , East Saxony came in second behind BSG Energie Cottbus in Season D.

After the reduction of the GDR league from five to two seasons in 1984, the third from last place in season D was no longer enough for relegation, so forward Kamenz had to relegate back to the district league. Subsequently, the team disappeared after a penultimate place in the following year and the next relegation to the fourth-class district class in the insignificance. The ASG Vorwärts Kamenz was dissolved in 1986.
