Ulrich Göhr (born March 24, 1953 in Triptis ) was a football player in the GDR and played in the top division of the league for FC Carl Zeiss Jena .

Athletic career

Göhr learned to play football in the local company sports club Chemie Triptis. After playing in the youth team of the Gera district , Göhr was delegated to the district's performance center, FC Carl Zeiss Jena, in 1967. There he went through the youth and junior team and, after being allowed to play in the men's division, was used in the second team of FC Carl Zeiss from 1971, which played in the second-rate GDR league .

In the 1972/73 season, the 1.79 m tall Göhr was used for the first time between the 17th and 21st matchday in the GDR league. He played his first game there on April 21, 1973 in the encounter 1. FC Magdeburg - FC Carl Zeiss (1: 1) as a stopper in the defense. In the following 1973/74 season he was part of the regular squad of the league team with 21 out of 26 possible point games. On March 26, 1974 Göhr played his only junior international game. In the 0-0 win against Czechoslovakia, he was used as a libero . As a right defender, he won the GDR soccer cup with FC Carl Zeiss Jena on April 13, 1974 after a 3-1 win over Dynamo Dresden . After another 17 missions in the 1974/75 season, Göhr had a career break, because he was only called up sporadically in eight league games in 1975/76. In 1976 and 1977 Göhr was not used in the league at all, in May 1977 he had to start his military service, which he spent with the district league team Vorwärts Kamenz . Since he did not return to FC Carl Zeiss afterwards, he has the following record for Jena: 51 league games with four goals, eleven national cup games (one goal) and nine European cup games. He played in almost all defense positions, but preferred as a libero or right defender.

After his discharge from military service, Göhr registered with the Jena district rival Wismut Gera in November 1978 , although he played in the GDR league. Göhr stayed there until the end of the 1984/85 season. In his last year in Gera he was captain of the team. After the end of the season, he stopped competitive sport. As a recreational footballer, Göhr let his sporting career end with the third-rate district division Chemie Kahla . He then coached lower-class teams such as SV 1910 Kahla , 1. FC Gera 03 , VfB Fortuna Chemnitz and, since 2007, FC Einheit Rudolstadt . Since March 2010 he has been training for the upper division VfB 09 Pößneck .

During his active time, Göhr learned the trade of toolmaker and later became a qualified sports teacher. He is married to the former athlete and Olympic champion Marlies Göhr .
