Karl-Heinz Aul (born November 3, 1956 ) is a former German soccer player and currently soccer coach. As a goalkeeper, he played for Hansa Rostock in the GDR Oberliga , the top soccer class of the GDR Football Association .

Aul joined the Rostock club's children's team in 1965 as a nine-year-old student. From the age of 16 he played for FC Hansa in the junior league. At the age of 17 he made his debut in the men's division when he played two games with the 2nd Hansa team in the second-rate GDR league in April 1974 . Initially, however, he continued to be the goalkeeper of the junior team until he moved up to the junior league team for the 1976/77 season. With 15 appearances in 26 point games, he also acquired the status of a regular player there. The 1.88 m tall Aul made his first appearance in the first team of FC Hansa on March 25, 1978 in the GDR league game Hansa - Demminer VB (5: 0) after the Hanseatic League had been relegated from the league in the previous season . As the second goalkeeper behindDieter Schneider came Aul in this 1977/78 season only to three missions, but with these he had a share in the direct return of the Hanseatic League to the league. In 1978/79 Aul completed four missions for Rostock. Aul played his first league game on November 25, 1978 in the match on the 10th match day between FC Hansa and Chemie Böhlen (2-2). At the end of the season, after a total of four league missions, he had to accept the immediate relegation to the GDR league, in which he was in another six games in 1979/80 in goal. His use on December 22, 1979, however, should remain the last in the 1st team, for which he had completed five GDR cup games in the same period . For the seasons 1980/81 and 1981/82 Aul was again nominated for the junior league.

During the 1981/82 season, Aul moved to the second-class BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock . In November 1982 he had to start his military service, but was able to continue playing football in the GDR league team of the army sports community Vorwärts Neubrandenburg during this time . In May 1984 he returned to BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen, where he also ended his career as a football goalkeeper.

In 2001 Aul became assistant coach at SV Warnemünde , first under coach Frank Pinther, then under Stefan Hasse, under whose direction the club was relegated to the state league in 2003 . Under Hasse's successor Jens Kunath and since 2006 under Heiko März , Aul remained the assistant coach of the Warnemünde team, who returned to the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania League in 2008 . Aul's engagement in Warnemünde ended in 2010.
