The ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg was a German football club from Neubrandenburg that existed between 1956 and 1984.
society
Vorwärts Neubrandenburg was a successor club of the SV of the KVP Vorwärts Prenzlau army team, who had moved to Neubrandenburg, and was integrated into the Neubrandenburg District League in 1956 . As early as 1957, Vorwärts, together with local rivals Turbine Neubrandenburg and Lokomotive Waren, achieved promotion to the 2nd GDR League . The third highest division of the GDR belonged to the Mecklenburg three seasons.
In 1960, after winning the relay at Vorwärts Rostock , the Neubrandenburg team were promoted to the GDR league . The league belonged forward to a total of 23 seasons, which was only interrupted by the brief relegation in the 1969/70 season. In 1978, after winning the league relay, the club took part in the promotion round to the GDR Oberliga . However, the ASG was clearly defeated against the later promoted Stahl Riesa and Hansa Rostock .
The 1983/84 season should be the last season of the men's team of the army club. After Vorwärts Neubrandenburg had won the league season again, the club fell victim to the GDR sports policy. The superordinate army sports association Vorwärts decided that there should be only two army clubs in the GDR league in addition to the first division Vorwärts Frankfurt . The ASV decided on the clubs Vorwärts Dessau and Vorwärts Stralsund . Participation in the promotion round to the league went to the runner-up Dynamo Schwerin .
Large parts of the disbanded men's team of the army sports community found themselves at the smaller Neubrandenburg army club ASG Vorwärts Fünfeichen . The youth work of ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg lasted until 1992 and was able to fight for the last district champion title with the D-youth in the 1990/1991 season before SV Teterow and BSG Post Neubrandenburg. On July 1, 1992, the junior division of ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg was incorporated into SV Post Telekom Neubrandenburg.
