Gerhard Krentz

Gerhard Krentz (born September 4, 1953 ) was a football player for FC Hansa Rostock from 1974 to 1977 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association .

As a junior player for the FC Dynamo in Berlin , Krentz played four international matches with the GDR junior national team in 1971 and 1972. From 1972 to 1974 he played for the second team of the BFC in the second-rate GDR league . In the 1972/73 season Krentz had two short appearances for the BFC as a substitute in the league on the 19th and 22nd matchday.

At the beginning of the 1974/75 season Krentz moved to the upper division Hansa Rostock. However, the 21-year-old was initially used there in the second team, which also played in the GDR league. He played predominantly center forward and was the team's top scorer with nine goals in 17 games. In the middle of the 1974/75 season and at the end of it, he was also used in the league team. Here he temporarily represented center forward Joachim Streich , but Krentz only scored one goal in his ten league games. He played his first league game on November 9, 1974 when 1. FC Lok Leipzig - FC Hansa (3-1). He came on in the 73rd minute for left winger Lothar Hahn . Hansa had to relegate from the league at the end of the season. In the GDR league season 1975/76 Krentz was initially called up again as a center forward of the first team, since Streich had switched to 1. FC Magdeburg. In the course of the season, however, he was replaced by other players and was mostly only used as a substitute. Of his 20 GDR league appearances, he played only nine over the full game. Hansa Rostock achieved immediate resurgence. In the new league season 1976/77 Krentz remained a substitute player, played eleven point games, only four of them over 90 minutes. In addition, he was used nine times in the junior league. After 42 competitive games in the first team, Krentz was delegated to FC Hansa Rostock at the end of the 1976/77 season.

In the summer of 1977 Krentz joined the GDR league club TSG Bau Rostock . There, too, he was initially used as a striker. In the 1978/79 and 1979/80 seasons he was the TSG team's top scorer with 21 and 20 goals respectively. From 1984 Krentz was taken back into defense and played Libero. After the 1984/85 season, Krentz ended his career as a competitive athlete after 173 of 208 possible league games for TSG. However, he remained a member of TSG and later at the successor club Rostocker FC . In 2003/04 he played in the U-50 team and was the top scorer in the championship round with 34 goals.
