The ASG Vorwärts Plauen was a German army sports association from Plauen , whose football department existed between 1974 and 1989.

Football section

Vorwärts Plauen was founded in 1974 when the Thuringian ASG Vorwärts Meiningen was relocated to Plauen. The Saxons also took over the league and competed in the GDR league from the 1974/75 season . While the ASG in Meiningen was quite popular and attracted a lot of spectators, the opposite occurred when it moved to Plauen. Vorwärts Plauen was never really accepted in the Vogtland, which also had to do with the sponsorship by the officers' college of the border troops of the GDR "Rosa Luxemburg" . The ASG benefited mainly from senior league players in military service, who later found themselves at FC Vorwärts Frankfurt .

At the sporting level, the ASG Vorwärts Plauen was quite successful during its existence and was able to establish itself in the league for the next seven seasons. The squad was so good at times that the second ASG representation played two seasons in the third-rate district league Karl-Marx-Stadt. In 1981, Plauen only narrowly failed because of the league relegation to Lokomotive Dresden , and together with TSG Lübbenau , they were relegated to the Karl-Marx-Stadt district league . In the district league season 1981/82 the Vogtlanders immediately set a record, with 40: 0 points they won the district championship without losing points. After the decisive promotion game against Motor Zschopau was won, the return to the second division was perfect. Plauen no longer held the league, however, and the Vogtlanders rose in the 1982/83 season with Lok Cottbus and progress Neustadt by return of post.

Forward Plauen was able to win the district league season again in the 1983/84 season, but failed in the final at the second representation of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt . In the following season 1984/85 the drastic austerity measures of the superordinate army sports association Forward made themselves felt. Due to the relocation of the officers' college to the Suhl location, the necessary quality squad was no longer available, so that after the season the team was withdrawn from play in the district and the ASG only appeared on a circular scale. In 1987 the first signs of dissolution were already noticeable. Parts of the team switched to local rivals Motor / Wema Plauen . In the course of the political change in 1989, Vorwärts Plauen was completely withdrawn from gaming operations and dissolved.
