Athletic career

Until 1971, Karl Krasselt played for TSG Heinrichsort in the fourth-class district class Karl-Marx-Stadt . At the beginning of the 1971/72 season, the 23-year-old striker was delegated to the regional football performance center FC Karl-Marx-Stadt. In the second half of the season he was used four times as a substitute and in a point game as a defender from the start in the major league. Mainly he played with the 2nd team in the third class district league , with which he rose to the GDR league at the end of the season . Also in 1972/73 Krasselt was a regular in the 2nd team, with which he played 14 of the 22 league games and was successful with six goals. He was only used twice in the league team, but scored his first league goal in the match on the 11th match day between FCK and FC Carl Zeiss Jena (1: 1). In 1973/74 he was not considered in the league games, but completed all 22 point games in the GDR league and scored four goals. However, the 2nd team rose again after this season in the district league. In the 1974/75 season, Krasselt represented the long-term injured defender Eberhard Schuster in five games in the first half of the league , and there was also a substitute. In addition, he helped the 2nd team to return to the GDR league. There he was again a regular player in 1975/76 with 17 league games and five goals, while he was only used three times in the major league and scored his second major league goal.

For the 1976/77 season, the previous 2. FCK team was converted into a junior team that competed in the new junior league. Since Krasselt was no longer eligible for the junior team at the age of 28 and was also not needed in the top division team, he was deported to the company sports community (BSG) Motor Fritz Heckert Karl-Marx-Stadt . With her, Krassel initially spent two seasons in the district league, until 1979 when she was promoted to the GDR league. By the end of his career, he completed seven seasons in the GDR league with BSG Motor. By 1984 he was a regular player with 118 appearances in 132 league games and 28 goals, and between 1980 and 1983 team captain. In 1979 and 1980 he was his team's top scorer with eight and twelve goals respectively. In his last season in the higher leagues, Krassel went to the age of 36. After he was used again in six GDR league games in 1984/85, he ended his career as a competitive athlete. In twelve seasons he had played 16 league games (2 goals) and 177 GDR league games (39 goals).
