Wolfgang Dummer (born July 20, 1947 ) was a football player in the GDR . In their highest soccer class, the GDR Oberliga , he played for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt .

Dummer started at the age of ten in the children's team of the company sports association (BSG) Lok / Motor Weimar , for which he last played in the second-rate GDR league . In the summer of 1968 he moved to 1. FC Magdeburg , with whose first team he played in the Intertoto Cup between July 13 and August 3, 1968 . He was then used in the 2nd team of the FCM, which played in the third-rate district league. In November 1968, Dummer was called up for military service and played in the GDR league with the Vorwärts Leipzig army sports community during his one and a half years of conscription . After his release, he returned to Motor Weimar in May 1970.

At the beginning of 1971, Motor Weimar Dummer delegated the regional football focus, the upper division FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt. There he was used as a striker from the beginning of the second half of the league season. In his first league game FC Rot-Weiß - Union Berlin (2-0) on March 13, 1971, he was called up as a striker. In this and three other point games he was used for the full 90 minutes, in eight other matches he was only a substitute. After the 1970/71 season, Red-White had to relegate to the GDR league. In the second division, Dummer was able to assert himself emphatically in the first team of Erfurt with 27 league appearances and 16 goalscoring and contributed significantly to the immediate promotion. In his second league season, however, he fell back into the substitute status, was used in 17 of 26 played point games, but he only completed one game over the full season. After a total of 56 matches, including 29 in the league, Dummer was delegated back to Motor Weimar at the end of the 1972/73 season.

With Motor Weimar, Dummer played another seven seasons in the GDR league from 1973 to 1980. In 1978, 1979 and 1980 he was the Weimar team's top scorer. At the end of the 1979/80 season, he finished competitive sports at the age of 33. For a year he then played with the third-class BSG OT Apolda , in 1981 he joined the fifth-class BSG unit in Bad Berka . There he was first a player, then a player-coach and finally just a coach. In later years Dummer was still active as a trainer, most recently from 2002 to 2007 at SV Empor Buttstädt in the seventh-class national class.
