Eckhard Brakenwagen (born August 3, 1954 in Rostock ) is a former football player from the GDR . The FC Hansa Rostock nominated him 1978/79 for his league team .

Brakenwagen began his football career in 1965 in the school team of the company sports association (BSG) Bad Sülze. He came to the offspring of TSG Bau Rostock through BSG Traktor Böhlendorf . After finishing school, he completed an apprenticeship as a construction machinist. In his first season with the men in 1972/73, his team was promoted to the second-rate GDR league . For the 1977/78 season he moved within the league to the relegated league FC Hansa Rostock . In his first Hansa season he was used in the 1st team only in five point games in which he scored three goals. Brakenwagen played most of the games in 1977/78 in the FC Hansa district league team . At the end of the season, the first team rose again to the GDR league and Brakenwagen was nominated for the season 1978/79 for the league team as a striker. In fact, he was only used once in a league game, on matchday 24, May 26, 1979, in the encounter between Hansa Rostock and FC Karl-Marx-Stadt (0-1). During the rest of the time he was used in the junior league team. The first team rose at the end of the season as bottom of the table again from the league. For the GDR league season 1979/80 Brakenwagen was again nominated for the 1st team and this time came there to ten league stakes in which he scored a goal. After the end of the season he was delegated to Hansa Rostock. In his three seasons at FC Hansa Brakenwagen had played a total of 16 point games in which he scored four goals. He was also used in three cup games.

After being delegated, Brakenwagen returned to TSG Bau Rostock in the summer of 1980, which was still playing in the GDR league and had previously served as a refuge for failed Hansa players. There he developed first as a striker to a regular player. Under coach Günter Bräsel he was ordered into midfield from the 1981/82 season, in his final months at TSG he played Libero . From 1982 to 1984 he was team captain. After TSG had to relegate from the GDR league in 1986, Brakenwagen ended his career as a football player in the performance area at the age of 32. During the six seasons at TSG, he played 121 of the 156 point games played. He later remained a member of TSG, even after it had converted to Rostocker FC in 1990. In 2006 he played for the club's U-50 team. He is also part of the traditional team of FC Hansa Rostock.
