Günter Bräsel (born October 25, 1945 in Niepars ) was a football player in Stralsund and Rostock . For FC Hansa Rostock he played 17 games in the GDR league .

The small company sports club Empor in the port city of Stralsund was Bräsel's first stop in his career as a football player. There he had started with the student team when he was seven. As a junior player, he moved to BSG Motor Stralsund , for which he also played in the second-rate GDR league in the 1966/67 season . When Motor Stralsund was relegated at the end of the season, the league club Hansa Rostock secured the 1.80 m tall defender to expand their own squad. Not yet 22 years old, he was included in the official squad of the league team for the coming season 1967/68 . Bräsel benefited from the fact that the regular full-back Helmut Hergesell was unable to complete the first half of 1967 due to a protracted injury. Bräsel took over from his position on the left side of the defense from the second day of the match and played eleven of the 13 point games there by the end of the year. After Hergesell reported back in the second half of the season, Bräsel lost his regular place in the top division team. There he was only used six times, otherwise he played in the second division team Hansa II. In the following two seasons he was used exclusively there. In total, Bräsel played 46 point games for Hansa II and scored one goal. Again, he usually played as a left defender.

At the end of the 1969/70 season, Bräsel moved to the third-class TSG Bau Rostock . Here he became team captain and rose with the team in 1973 in the GDR league. With TSG Bau Rostock he played in the GDR league for the next three years, after which he ended his active career in 1976. In the GDR league, Bräsel always played 48 point games as a defender within three seasons.

Between 1978 and 1984 Bräsel worked as a trainer for TSG Bau Rostock. From 1981 to 1984 he coached their GDR league team.
