Henry Treppschuh (born December 12, 1959 in Berlin ) was a soccer player in the GDR Oberliga , the top soccer class of the GDR soccer association . There he played for 1. FC Union Berlin .

Athletic career

Treppschuh's football career began in 1968 with the Berlin company sports association (BSG) Turbine Gaswerke. In 1973, when he was 13, he was delegated from there to 1. FC Union Berlin. From 1975 Treppschuh played in the junior team of 1. FC Union and was discovered there for the GDR junior national team. With her he completed 17 international matches between 1976 and 1978.

For the 1977/78 season, the 1.72 m tall stair shoe was nominated for the first time for the Union upper division team. However, it took until the 19th matchday before he was actually used in the elite league. In the match between Wismut Aue and Union (3-2) held on April 8, 1978, he was substituted on in the 58th minute. In the rest of the league games of the season Treppschuh was also involved, but he only played three games, each as a midfielder, over the full playing time. It took until the 1979/80 season before he had established himself as a regular in the 1st team with 19 point games. At the end of this season Union had to relegate the GDR League . There it took two years for the team to return to the league. In the first year of the GDR, Treppschuh was only used in eleven point and two unsuccessful promotion games, in the promotion season 1981/82 he played only three of the eight games in the successful promotion round.

In the new league season 1982/83 Treppschuh was relatively successful with 17 point games, although he only played nine times over 90 minutes. In the 1983/84 season he was only used nine league point games, at the end of the season he had to relegate his team to the GDR league again. His third GDR league season he was able to make more successful, with 24 appearances in 34 played point games, he had a noteworthy share in the immediate recovery. In the following league season 1985/86, Treppschuh, who had meanwhile completed his sports teacher degree, played all 13 point games of the first half of the season, mainly as a midfielder. In 1986 he was called up for military service. Since he then no longer played in the 1st team, he could look back on the following 127 competitive games:

  • 11 games in the GDR soccer cup (-)

During his one and a half years in the military, Treppschuh played football with the Vorwärts Hagenow army sports club in the third-class district league Schwerin . After his release, he returned to 1. FC Union Berlin in May 1987, was also nominated for the first team for the 1987/88 season, but was no longer used there. During the current season, Treppschuh moved to GDR league team Stahl Hennigsdorf . In 1989 he was elected team captain there. Later he played for the traditional team of 1. FC Union Berlin.
