The ASG Vorwärts Hagenow was a German army sports association from Hagenow in Mecklenburg , whose football department existed until 1990. Vorwärts Hagenow was financially supported by the army sports association Vorwärts , the ASG was subordinate to the border troops of the GDR in Hagenow .

Football section

Vorwärts Hagenow first appeared in the higher class football of the Schwerin district in 1980 . From the opening season to the Schwerin District League , the ASG developed into one of the most successful teams until 1989.

Already in 1981 Hagenow reached third place behind Hydraulik Parchim and Einheit Güstrow . In the following season, the championship of the Schwerin district succeeded. The army sports association forward withdrew the team from promotion to the GDR league , so that the second placed CM Veritas Wittenberge rose. 1985 drove Hagenow again a championship. Since the superordinate army sports association forward for financial reasons from the 1983/84 season with forward Stralsund and forward Dessau only allowed two clubs in the GDR league, the team was withdrawn again. Hagenow was not an isolated case in this regard. Vorwärts Fünfeichen met the same fate, Vorwärts Neubrandenburg was completely dissolved.

Vorwärts Hagenow was successful in the Schwerin Cup, which the team won four times. From 1983 to 1985 and for the last time in 1989 with a 2: 1 final success over progress Neustadt-Glewe. In the associated qualifications for the first main round of the FDGB Cup , the ASG only reached the second round against Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock once. Against Hansa Rostock , Rotation Berlin and the second team from 1. FC Magdeburg , the premature end came in the first round.

In 1986, Vorwärts Hagenow only just failed to win the third title behind ISG Schwerin Süd . Only in 1989 did the army team make it to the top of the table, third behind Meister Hydraulik Parchim and CM Veritas Wittenberge . Like many other army teams, Vorwärts Hagenow was withdrawn from gaming operations and dissolved in 1990.
