Olaf Reinhold (born December 7, 1960 ) was a soccer player in the GDR Oberliga , the top soccer class of the GDR soccer association . There he played for 1. FC Union Berlin .

Soccer career

In order to be able to play organized soccer, Reinhold joined the police sports club Dynamo Neustrelitz in 1972 at the age of eleven. As a junior player, he moved to the city's largest sports community, TSG Neustrelitz , in 1976 . After finishing school, he completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic. In 1979 Reinhold went to East Berlin and joined 1. FC Union Berlin, which initially accepted him into his junior league team.

During the second half of the 1979/80 season, coach Heinz Werner tested him in the GDR Oberliga and used him there in three games as a striker. His first league game played the 1.80 m tall Reinhold on March 29, 1980 in the game of the 19th match day 1. FC Union - Wismut Aue (0: 2), when he was substituted in the 71st minute. In the following two games he was in the starting eleven. After the end of the season, Union had to relegate to the GDR league and stayed there for two years. 1980/81 Reinhold played mainly for the second team in the third-rate district league . For the 1981/82 season he was nominated for the first union team for the first time. After he had played only six GDR league games in the past season, he was already 22 of the 30 league games in 1981/82. With his seven goals he was one of the most accurate shooters in his team.

From 1982/83 Union Berlin played again in the league. Under the new coach Harry Nippert , Reinhold was part of the regular squad from the first day of the game and was only absent from two point games during the season. Usually he was called up as a left winger. After a weaker 1983/84 season with only 16 league games and relegation again, Reinhold was able to finally prevail as a regular in the GDR league year 1984/85. Under coach Karl Schäffner he was successfully converted into a full-back, where he was able to assert himself even after the immediate promotion. In the three league seasons from 1985 to 1989 he only missed nine point games and played all 19 cup games. This included the cup final on May 31, 1986 , which Union lost 5-1 to 1. FC Lok Leipzig. Reinhold played his last league game on May 10, 1989 in the encounter between Union Berlin and FC Karl-Marx-Stadt (0: 1), in which he was again in his regular position as a left defender for 90 minutes. It was his 194th competitive game for Union, in which he had scored 14 goals. In the league he had played 137 times and scored four goals.

In 1989/90 the now 29-year-old Reinhold played for the East Berlin district class team Motor Lichtenberg, between 1990 and 1993 he was still active for the district league club Germania 88 Berlin.
