Ludwig Heck (chemist)

Ludwig Heck (* 28. August 1930 in him / Saar ) is a German chemist and retired university professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Saarbruecken .

biography

From 1951 to 1957 he studied chemistry and mineralogy at Saarland University and received his doctorate in 1960 under Jean Besson on the electroanalysis of lead as lead (IV) oxide . He then worked first as an assistant and later as an academic senior counselor at the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry. In 1972 he completed his habilitation in the subject of inorganic chemistry with the topic: Investigations into the question of the association of anions with inert amine complexes in aqueous solution . From 1973 to 1975 and from 1985 to 1987 he was Vice Dean of the Department of Chemistry. From 1977 to 1979 he was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Since 1979 he has held a C3 professorship in the field of inorganic chemistry at Saarland University. From 1979 to 1981 he was Vice President for Teaching and Studies at Saarbrücken University. His successor at the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry was Kaspar Hegetschweiler .

His fields of work were inorganic complex chemistry, mononuclear and polynuclear hydroxyl and oxo metal complexes and their reactions. Even after his retirement he worked on the analysis of archaeological color pigments, including those for Wallerfanger blue .
