Lawn sports Elmshorn was a department of the sports club FTSV from Elmshorn in the Pinneberg district . The first soccer team played for seven years in the Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga .

history

In September 1890, dissatisfied members of the Elmshorn MTV 1860 founded the Elmshorn Workers' Education Association . Its gymnastics department became independent as the Free Gymnastics Association Elmshorn in 1895 . The footballers of the Free Gymnastics Association split off on June 1, 1920 under the name VfR Elmshorn , but merged again in 1923 with the Free Gymnastics Association to form FTSV Elmshorn 1890 . Since the club was involved in workers' sport, it was banned when the National Socialists came to power in 1933. The association was not re-established until May 3, 1946. The footballers competed under the name Rasensport Elmshorn or (popularly, not officially) Raspo Elmshorn .

In 1953, the team was promoted to the then third-class association league and two years later they made it to the Hamburg amateur league . 3,000 spectators saw a 3-1 win over the Harburger TB at the start of the season, but this was not enough for the Elmshorners to stay in the league. Raspo was an elevator crew until well into the 1970s . After a year-long stint in the 1958/59 season, the team was able to establish itself in the Hamburg upper house for a long time after its third promotion in 1961. After relegation in 1964, the Elmshorners had to return to the district league in 1970, because the then three-track association league was converted into a two-track amateur league and thus there was an increased relegation.

In 1983 he returned to the now fifth-class regional league, which was followed three years later by promotion to the association league . In 1989 Eugen Igel took over as coach and two years later led Raspo to the runner-up behind VfL Hamburg 93 . In the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord , the Elmshorns were second behind Kickers Emden and missed the promotion. In 1993 Raspo won the Hamburg Cup with a 3-1 win over KS Polonia Hamburg . In the DFB Cup 1993/94 they lost in the 2nd round to the Hessian representative Eintracht Haiger . In 1996 the Elmshorn runners-up behind SC Condor Hamburg and prevailed in the promotion relegation to the Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein with 0: 1 and 3: 0 against TuS Felde . As twelfth of the 1996/97 league season, Raspo only missed relegation because three regional league teams were relegated to the league.

After the immediate resurgence, the Elmshorns were able to establish themselves in the top division. In 2000 Raspo was runner-up behind the TuS field. At the end of the season, coach Igel said goodbye, who returned two years later and led the team to relegation. A year later, Raspo missed qualifying for the single-track Oberliga Nord as third from bottom. The 2003/04 season was overshadowed by internal disputes related to the planned merger of the FTSV with the neighboring club Fortuna Langelohe on July 1, 2004 . With the completed merger to form FTSV Fortuna , the football departments of both clubs became FC Elmshorn .
