Thomas Gansauge (born June 4, 1970 in Bergen on Rügen ) is a former German football player.
Athletic career
Club career

On October 19, 1996 he made his debut in the game of Hansa Rostock at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 1st Bundesliga , developed into a regular player over the course of the season and completed 71 first division games by the 1999/2000 season.
During the 1999/2000 season he moved to league rivals Arminia Bielefeld , but was only able to play ten Bundesliga games for Arminia due to a persistent injury. Despite relegation, he stayed in Bielefeld and played ten more games in the second division, where he scored the only goal of his professional career. After the season he moved to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the Regionalliga Süd , where he ended his career after the 2003/2004 season.
Further career
The former GDR junior national player has lived in Chicago since the beginning of 2007 . Gansauge runs the Hansa Soccer Academy there , a school for promoting young talent. In his spare time he occasionally plays football for Schwaben AC, a club founded in 1926 by German immigrants.
