Joachim Krug (born August 20, 1955 ) is a German football coach .

Career

Joachim Krug was active as a player for VfR Eintracht Wolfsburg , MTV Gifhorn , VfL Wolfsburg and Westfalia Herne . After his active career, he became a coach and in December 1984 he became assistant coach at Arminia Bielefeld . He initially assisted Gerd Roggensack , Horst Franz , Fritz Fuchs and Werner Fuchs before becoming head coach in September 1987. Just six months later, Krug was released. For the 1988/89 season he took over VfB Oldenburg , where he had to leave in October 1989.

A few weeks later, Krug was coach of the league rival 1. SC Göttingen 05 and stayed until March 1991. On January 1, 1992, he took over the district league club LR Ahlen , with whom he rose four times in a row to the regional league West / Southwest . From 1996 to 1998 he was sports director in Ahlen before he returned to 1. SC Göttingen 05 as a coach. With the Göttingen team he rose to the Regionalliga Nord a year later . In the summer of 2000, Krug returned to Ahlen as sports director.

At the beginning of 2004, Krug became sports director at Hammer SpVg , before taking on the same position at RB Leipzig five years later . From November 2011 to April 2012, Krug trained again for the (renamed) Rot Weiss Ahlen club , before taking over the post of sports director for the third time in July 2012.
