Fritz Fuchs (born October 18, 1943 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .
Player career
Fritz Fuchs played a total of 168 Bundesliga games for 1. FC Kaiserslautern from 1969 to 1975 , scoring 12 goals. Before that, he played for the legendary "Dorfverein" SV Alsenborn , which narrowly failed several times in the Bundesliga promotion round.
Coaching career
The highlight of his coaching career in the 1980s and 1990s was his promotion to the Bundesliga in 1986 with the blatant outsider FC 08 Homburg . In the House of Lords he was released after only three games. In the 2nd Bundesliga he previously coached SC Freiburg (1983/84) and Kickers Offenbach (1984/85). Then he looked after Arminia Bielefeld (1986-1988) in the second division , again at SC Freiburg (January to April 1989) and 1. FC Saarbrücken (1993/94). In the regional league he was a coach at 1. FC Union Berlin (September 30, 1998 to June 1, 1999) and then at Rot-Weiss Essen (until October 27, 1999). In the 2005/06 season he looked after the amateurs of 1. FC Saarbrücken in the Oberliga Südwest and reached fifth place with the team. For one game he was also interim coach of the first team in the 2. Bundesliga.
At the beginning of 2008, Fuchs was appointed "Team Manager Team and Sport" at 1. FC Kaiserslautern, taking over from Klaus Toppmöller . On March 30, 2008, due to a misunderstanding with the board of directors, he announced his immediate resignation from this position. In April 2009 he became sporting director at Eintracht Trier , where he was dismissed again in May 2010 after the 2009/10 season . From January to July 2013 he worked as a consultant for the regional league team SVN Zweibrücken.
From August 2013 until the end of the 2014/15 season, Fuchs coached the national league club SV Hermersberg .
family
His son Uwe was most recently the coach of VfL Osnabrück . His late younger brother Werner also worked as a football coach .
