The SV Edenkoben is a German sports club from Edenkoben .
history
SV Edenkoben was founded in 1908 under the name FC Germania 08 . Under the leadership of the multi-million dollar waste disposal company Hans Frühbis, who also acted as the main sponsor, SV Edenkoben experienced its heyday and even knocked on the goal of the 2nd Bundesliga (in 1988/89 Edenkoben failed in the promotion games to the second division). There were some former professionals in the team at the time.
Subsequent successes were u. a. qualifying twice for the 1st DFB Cup main round (1990, 1995). In 1990 they even reached the second round after a 1-0 win against Saar 05 Saarbrücken , in which they only had to admit defeat to MSV Duisburg after extra time. After the rise from the Oberliga Südwest in the newly founded third-class Regionalliga West / Südwest in the 1993/94 season, the disillusionment followed a year later. After only one year, they rose as seventeenth in the table (34 games, 4 wins, 10 draws, 20 defeats, 32:67 (−35) goals and 18-50 points) and fell in the following year in 15th place (34 games, 9 wins , 9 draws, 16 defeats, 40:72 (−32) goals and 36 points) also through the Oberliga back to the Association League.
In 2004 the name was changed to Spvgg. Edenkoben 1920 e. V. In the 2005/06 season, the Spvgg. Edenkoben made it to the district class middle. After the club had been promoted to the district league Vorderpfalz in 2007, he played again in the district middle class until 2011, before being promoted to the district league again in the 2010/11 season. Today the club plays in the A-Class Rhein-Mittelhaardt (as of 2019/20).
