Havelse is a district of Garbsen in Lower Saxony .

geography

To the east, at the height of the Marienwerder Forest, the Havelse borders on Hanover's Marienwerder district , to the south on the Leineaue on Seelze , while the north-western border is formed by the Mittelland Canal . The canal crosses the Leine not far from the village by means of an imposing bridge structure.

history

Old names of the place are around 1216 Hauekesla, 13th century Havekesla, around 1225 Hauekesleue, 1236 Hauekesleue, 1283 Hauekesleue and around 1359 Havekesleve.

The city of Garbsen , today the largest municipality in the Hanover region after Hanover with around 62,000 inhabitants , was created on January 1, 1967 from the merger of the independent municipalities of Garbsen and Havelse and received city rights on June 17, 1968. In the ranking of the largest cities in Lower Saxony, Garbsen ranks 13th behind Celle. The different telephone prefixes stem from the time before the political community was formed. The district of Havelse was connected to the telephone network via the municipality of Seelze and still has the area code 05137 instead of the Garbsener 05131. The district that characterizes the Havelse is the "Old Village". The village inn stood in the area of the war memorial until the early 1930s. In the old village center you can now see restored farmhouses and the war memorial that commemorates the fallen of the two wars 1914–1918 and 1939–1945. In the period after the Second World War , the number of inhabitants rose continuously, from 1,838 in 1946 to 3,013 in 1953. This was accompanied by a large number of new buildings. This development was documented by the amateur photographer Rudolf Guthmann . His recordings from 1953 to 1971 are kept in the Garbsen City Archives and are generally accessible via the German Digital Library and Archivportal-D .

coat of arms

The draft emblem of Havelse comes from the in Isernhagen born and later in Hannover living heraldry and crest painter peoples Gustav , who is also the emblem of Großburgwedel , Melle village , Wunstorf has designed and many other towns. The approval of the coat of arms was granted by the district president in Hanover on November 2, 1964.

Coat of arms of Havelse
Blazon : "In blue on a golden oak branch fork, a seated, opposing, gold- armed , silver hawk ."
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms goes back historically to the original naming ("Havekesla" = Habichtswald). For this reason the council of the community has chosen the hawk as the community symbol. Around the oak branch, the blue color symbolizes the water of the original meadow swamps in the so-called linen lowland. The first document in which the village was mentioned dates back to 1196. Through this, Count Conrad von Roden donated eleven hooves and three ponds to the Marienwerder monastery .

religion

Havelse, Corpus Christi Church

The Evangelical Lutheran Reconciliation Church is located on Schulstrasse, and its parish of the same name is part of the Hannover City Church Association . On April 27, 2020, a large part of the church roof collapsed.

The Catholic Church Corpus Christi am Nordenkamp was built in 1961, and in 1995 the foundation stone was laid for its current bell tower. Since 2004 the church has belonged to the parish of St. Raphael based in the district of Auf der Horst .

Economy and Infrastructure

In the central area along the street Am Hasenberge and the Hannoversche Straße you will find many shops and service companies (pharmacy, post office, restaurant, drinks, hairdresser and others). The housing offers in the district range from simple single-family houses to multi-story rental housing complexes.

Agricultural vehicles occasionally appearing in the street are a reminder that the Havelse - as you can still understand today in the town center (called in the old village) - emerged from half a dozen farms. It was not until 1959 that the first houses in Havelse were connected to the sewer system. In the course of the expansion of Hanover, and in particular the settlement of VW in the Hanover district of Stöcken, Havelse grew to its present size.

Havelse gained nationwide fame for itself and the city of Garbsen at the beginning of the 1990s when TSV Havelse played in the 2nd Bundesliga . Currently (season 2017/18) TSV plays in the Regionalliga Nord (fourth division). Until September 2011, the private classic rock radio station Radio 21 was located in the former town hall of Havelses .

traffic

Three bus lines and one night bus line of the Greater Hanover transport offer travel options within Havel and to and from neighboring districts and neighboring communities.
