history

Men's soccer

Founded in 1921 as VfL der Security Police , the club, renamed VfL der Schutzpolizei in 1923, first adopted its current name in 1931. In 1934 the team reached the promotion round to the Gauliga , but failed there with only two plus points. A year later, the soccer team was affiliated with the MTV Bremen, which was dissolved at the end of the Second World War .

Re-established in 1946 as SV Grün-Weiß Bremen , the club took on its current name again at the end of the 1940s. In 1954 the club rose to the Bremen Amateur League, in which it subsequently established itself. 1959 still runner-up behind the Blumenthaler SV , the club won the competition in the following season. In the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord , however, only one victory was achieved. After several years in the middle of the table, the club repeated the league championship again in 1970, after finishing second in group B of the promotion round, the team missed promotion to the regional league in playoffs . A year later, the club dominated both championship and promotion round and played in the 1971/72 season for one season in second class. With only six wins of the season and 19:49 points, the club went straight down again. The home games of this season were played in the stadium at Panzenberg . As second in the table, the club missed direct re-promotion in the Bremen Amateur League, but was qualified for the German amateur championship. Against ASV Bergedorf 85 , the club was eliminated in the first round.

As fourth in the table, the SV Police missed qualification for the newly founded third-class Oberliga Nord at the end of the 1973/74 amateur league season. The club played in the amateur league, now renamed Verbandsliga Bremen, until 1976. After relegation, the team said goodbye to higher-class football. After the club was last (2010/11 season) with its first men's team only represented in the 11th class 1st district class Bremen-Stadt, PSV withdrew its team from the men's division and has only been represented in old-school and youth football since then . In the 2014/15 season, a new build-up of a men's team was initiated again. The newly formed 1st men rose in the first season as runner-up in the 1st district class Bremen and will therefore play in the district league C Bremen from the 2015/16 season.

Women's soccer

Before the Bundesliga was founded in 1990, the SV Bremen police took part in the final round of the German soccer championship five times. The team was always eliminated in the first round. In 1987 the team failed only on penalties at FC Spöck . In addition, the police footballers won the Bremen Cup eleven times and qualified for the DFB Cup . The team reached the second round three times, receiving a bye for the first round in all three cases .
