history

The facility was opened in 1963. It became the new home ground of Bremer SV, which had just been relegated to the Bremen amateur league, which was second class at the time . In the 1961/62 season , the Bremer SV played in the first-class Oberliga Nord at the time , but moved to the larger Weser Stadium . After the promotion to the second-rate Regionalliga Nord in 1965, the club thought again about a move to the Weserstadion. Since Werder Bremen became German champions at the same time and were now facing European Cup games, Werder supported Bremer SV in building a covered grandstand. At the same time, new changing rooms and club rooms were built, which were opened in 1967. The record number of spectators was set in 1974 when the front runner Bremer SV received Blumenthaler SV , one point behind, on the last match day of the Landesliga Bremen . In front of 7,500 spectators, the guests won 3-0 and were promoted to the newly created, third-class Oberliga Nord.

At first, Bremer SV had to share the stadium on Panzenberg with MTV von 1875 and TV Doventor . In the 1971/72 season, the SV Bremen police evaded their home games in the Regionalliga Nord in the stadium on Panzenberg, as the local district sports facility south was not suitable for the regional league . In the 2010s, the stadium's condition deteriorated. Since the Panzenberg no longer meets the requirements of the German Football Association , the Bremer SV had to play its DFB Cup games elsewhere, such as against Eintracht Braunschweig in Weserstadion 11th place or against Eintracht Frankfurt and SV Darmstadt 98 in the sports park on Vinnenweg .
