The sports club Sperber from 1898 e. V. is a sports club from Hamburg-Alsterdorf , whose soccer team played from 1966 to 1969 and from 1970 to 1972 in the then second-rate Regionalliga Nord .
history
The SC Sperber, founded on July 5, 1898, merged with FC Saxonia 1906 Hamburg on September 27, 1906 to form SC Sperber-Saxonia Hamburg and was independent again from 1909. Already in 1901 the Hamburgers played against the newly founded high school team of the conductor Zumpe in Schwerin and won 3-1 in the snowstorm. During the First World War there was a war association with St. Georger FC from 1917 to 1919, which then merged with Winterhude-Eppendorfer TV 1880 as VfTuR Hamburg from 1919 onwards. This merger was resolved in 1921. The Second World War brought about another KSG with St. Georg from 1939 to 1944, which became KSG Alsterdorf in 1944/45 through the merger with Post SG Hamburg, HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst and SV St. Georg.
In the 1934/35 season they were promoted to the Gauliga Nordmark , from which they were relegated after two rounds in 1937. Even after rising again in 1939, you only belonged to the Gauliga Nordmark for two rounds. After the third promotion in 1942, the KSG played in the Gauliga Hamburg until 1945. In the 1956/57 season, the SC Sparhawk won the runner-up in the Hamburg amateur league and moved into the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord . The team around Klaus “Micky” Neisner failed at VfB Lübeck . In 1965 the attempt in the promotion round to the Football Regionalliga Nord against Bremer SV , SV Union Salzgitter and Heider SV was in vain.
The promotion succeeded in 1966 after the runner-up in Hamburg through the 3-2 win after extra time in the playoff against 1. FC Wolfsburg. For the round 1966/67 Sperber Hamburg belonged to the Regionalliga Nord and played the first game in what was then the second highest division at Altona 93 on August 14, 1966 . The team took 13th place with ex-HSVer Erwin Piechowiak . Reinforced by the additional additions Horst Dehn and Peter Wulf , the second year - 1967/68 - had a great start with 18: 4 points, and Alsterdorf was already dreaming of the Bundesliga promotion round. Due to the many ex-HSV players in the squad, the bon mot was circulating among Hamburg football fans at that time : "If you want to see good HSVers, you have to go to Sparrowhawk".
On the twelfth game day, the winning streak was torn by the 1: 3 defeat on November 12, 1967 at St. Pauli , and at the end of the round, Sparhawk was in 10th place. As 17th of the season 1968/69 the SC rose in 1969 from the regional league. But it succeeded the immediate return: In the promotion round in 1970, Sperber prevailed over SV Meppen , SV Union Salzgitter and SV Friedrichsort . After two years, the second descent followed in 1972. Later, in the 1990s, the path led down to the district league. In 2001 and 2003 they reported back to the regional and association leagues, but with two relegations by 2006 they quickly returned to the Hamburg-Nord district league.
There they finished 2nd in the table in the 2008/09 season and became the runner-up of the district league group winners in the subsequent promotion round. That was enough for promotion, so that Sperber has been competing in the sixth-class Hamburg regional league (Hammonia season) since the 2009/10 season . In the 2017/18 season, the club competes in the seventh-class District League North. The season is characterized by frequent failures due to the poor grass in the Alsterdorf stadium.

In addition to soccer, SC Sperber also offers gymnastics , cardiac sports , senior sports , tennis , table tennis and gymnastics .
