Erwin Piechowiak (born November 15, 1936 in Georgswerder ) is a former German football player who won the German football championship as an active member of Hamburger SV in 1960 .

Hamburger SV, until 1966

The redhead grew up with eight siblings in Georgswerder, played for Vorwärts Ost and Einigkeit Wilhelmsburg in Hamburg amateur football and came to the North German football league in 1957/58 as a new addition to the North German series champion Hamburger SV . The player, mostly called "Piecho", was immediately used by HSV coach Günter Mahlmann on the first day of the season, August 11, 1957, in the 3-0 away win at Phoenix Lübeck. In the 67th minute of the game, he made the goal to make it 3-0. In total, he made 24 appearances in his first year in the Oberliga Nord and was able to celebrate his first championship title with the team around Uwe Seeler and Klaus Stürmer . In the final round of the German championship, he moved with the Red Pants into the final on May 18, 1958 in Hanover against FC Schalke 04. “Royal Blue” won 3-0 against the Hanseatic League. As a right defender, Piechowiak mainly dealt with international striker Bernhard Klodt on Schalke's left wing. By the end of the league era, 1962/63, he won the championships with Hamburger SV in series from 1958 to 1963. The versatile defensive player came to 101 league games and scored four goals. With the selection of the NFV Piechowiak played on April 9, 1958 and April 12, 1959, two representative games against North Holland and southern Germany.

The finals in 1960 became the sporting highlight when he and his teammates won the German championship in Hamburg with a 3-2 win against the favored 1. After the career

The trained machine fitter later trained various teams in the Hamburg amateur area, including TuRa Harksheide , the HSV amateurs and the Glashütte SV. He was an employee in Uwe Seeler's sporting goods wholesaler.
