The department of San Javier is located in the east of the province of Santa Fe in central Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.
It is bordered to the north by the Department of General Obligado , to the east, separated by the Río Paraná , the provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos , to the south by the department of Garay and to the west by the departments of Vera and San Justo .
The capital of the department of San Javier is the eponymous San Javier .
