history

The area around today's Romang was called San Geronimo until 1845. Then until the founding of Malabrigo. The Swiss immigrant Teófilo Romang finally founded the Romang settlement in 1873. He emigrated from Switzerland to Argentina as Peter Wingeier from Trubschachen in 1860 . On the crossing he was able to buy the papers of a doctor from Langnau who died on the ship. He then even practiced as a doctor and founded the Romang settlement on April 23, 1873. The heart of Jesus is considered the patron saint . This is also represented symbolically in the coat of arms.

Others

The inhabitants live mainly from agriculture and livestock. Many of the residents are still descendants of the Swiss who settled this area. This can be seen in the surnames and on the Swiss Federal Day , which the residents celebrate like the Swiss National Day.
