Romang is a small town in central Argentina . It is located in the province of Santa Fe in the department of San Javier .
Location and inhabitants
Romang is the northernmost municipality in the department of San Javier. It is located 265 km north of the provincial capital Santa Fe and about 750 km from the capital Buenos Aires . Romang has 9,237 inhabitants (2012, INDEC ) and is located on the Rio San Javier, a branch of the Río Paraná

Romang has a subtropical climate with no dry seasons, with hot summers (average 25 ° C) and mild winters (12 ° C). The average annual rainfall is 900 to 1,100 mm.
history
The area around today's Romang was called San Geronimo until 1845. Then until the founding of Malabrigo. The Swiss immigrant Teófilo Romang finally founded the Romang settlement in 1873. He emigrated from Switzerland to Argentina as Peter Wingeier from Trubschachen in 1860 . On the crossing he was able to buy the papers of a doctor from Langnau who died on the ship. He then even practiced as a doctor and founded the Romang settlement on April 23, 1873. The heart of Jesus is considered the patron saint . This is also represented symbolically in the coat of arms.

The inhabitants live mainly from agriculture and livestock. Many of the residents are still descendants of the Swiss who settled this area. This can be seen in the surnames and on the Swiss Federal Day , which the residents celebrate like the Swiss National Day.
