The department of San Martín is located in the west of the province of Santa Fe in central Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.
It is bordered to the north by the departments of Castellanos and Las Colonias , to the east by the department of San Jerónimo , to the south by the department of Belgrano and to the west by the province of Cordoba .
