The Garay department is located in the east of the Santa Fe province in central Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province. With 19,913 inhabitants, it is the most sparsely populated department in the province.
It is bordered to the north by the department of San Javier , to the east, separated by the Río Paraná , by the province of Entre Ríos , to the south and west by the department of La Capital and to the west by the San Justo .
