The department of Las Colonias is located in the center of the province of Santa Fe in central Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.
It is bordered to the north by the department of San Cristóbal , to the east by the departments of San Justo and La Capital , to the south by the departments of San Jerónimo and San Martín and to the west by the department of Castellanos .
The capital of the Las Colonias department is Esperanza .
