The Nueve de Julio department is located in the northwest of the Santa Fe Province in central Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.
It borders the province of Chaco to the north, the Vera department to the east, the San Cristóbal department to the south and the Santiago del Estero province to the west .
