Dieter Lohse (born June 3, 1940 in Frauenstein ) is a German transport scientist and is primarily concerned with theoretical transport planning and the modeling of transport demand.

Life

Lohse studied and did his doctorate at the University of Transport in Dresden . In the 1970s and 1980s he dealt with traffic network calculations and traffic flows and contributed to the development of the “ System of Representative Traffic Surveys” (SrV) for selected cities in the GDR . His research also supported the guidelines for city streets in the GDR .

After the political turning point , he was able to be appointed professor, which he had not been able to do before, despite his successful habilitation .

From 1992 to 2005 Lohse held the professorship for the theory of traffic planning at the TU Dresden and was, among other things, the dean of studies for the diploma course in traffic engineering . In 2005 he retired.
