System of representative traffic surveys

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The system of representative traffic surveys or mobility in cities (SrV) is a traffic survey in city traffic .

description

The SrV has been organized regularly every 5 years since 1972 by the Chair of Traffic and Infrastructure Planning at the TU Dresden . In addition to the " Mobility in Germany " study, which has been carried out since 1976 , it is the longest continuously carried out traffic science study in Germany .

The field phase of the last Template: future / in 3 yearssurvey took place in 2018. The results are expected by the fourth quarter of 2019. In contrast to the Germany-wide “Mobility in Germany” program run by the Federal Ministry of Transport , SrV concentrates on surveying mobility behavior in cities. The participation of cities in SrV is voluntary and chargeable. In 2018, 134 cities and municipalities took part, some of which will be examined together in nine metropolitan areas. 104 municipalities took part in 2013, 34 more than in 2008. Users of the data include municipalities , transport companies , transport associations and transport ministries . The so-called SrV city level enables time series observations of traffic behavior in east German cities. Further city groups provide information on the typical traffic behavior of municipalities according to centrality, number of inhabitants and topography. However, due to the changing participants, these are not suitable for viewing in time series.

Procedure of the investigation

In order to take part in Mobility in Cities - SrV , interested cities commission the Chair of Transport and Infrastructure Planning with the implementation. This commissions a survey institute to carry out surveys of the population. For this purpose, addresses of households are randomly selected from the population register for a representative sample and the addressees are asked to participate. The participants can then carry out the survey either by telephone or online. All residents of the household, including children, should explicitly take part in the survey in order to ensure that the study also covers the entire population. The data obtained in this way are scientifically processed by the chair and passed on to the client.

The average working days from Tuesday to Thursday outside of school and public holidays are used as the reference dates for the survey . Mainly the source, destination and inland traffic of city dwellers is surveyed. Other traffic affecting the city must be ascertained through additional studies. These transports are categorized according to routes, distances, duration , purpose and type of transport .
