Friedhelm Groppe
Friedhelm Groppe (born October 17, 1942 , † April 10, 2014 in Würzburg ) was a German football player .
Athletic career
Groppe celebrated his greatest successes with Borussia Dortmund . In 1965 he won the German Cup, a year later he won the European Cup Winners' Cup with Dortmund , although he was not in the final line-up. However, he had fought for a regular place in 1966 and made 15 Bundesliga appearances and four European Cup appearances that year. In the final he had to make way for Rudi Assauer injured .
In 1966 he and the BVB team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf .
Groppe played from 1969 to 1972 in what was then the second-class regional league for Karlsruher SC , during which time he made 85 appearances (no goal). From 1972 he played 121 times for Würzburger FV , scoring 10 goals. With the descent of the club in 1980, he ended his career. In the last two years he played alongside Josef "Sepp" Weiß , who won the World Cup and European Cup with FC Bayern Munich in the 1970s , and Günter Fürhoff , who played 153 times for Rot-Weiss Essen in the Bundesliga .
