Association of Dieticians - German Federal Association
The Verband Deutscher Dietassistenten - Deutscher Bundesverband eV (VDD) represents around 4,500 dieticians , about 1/3 of the estimated 14,000 working dieticians in Germany . The work of the association includes advanced training and the issuing of the VDD certificate required for cooperation with the health insurance companies .
history
The association was founded in 1957 with the support of the German Society for Nutrition in Mainz as a "union state recognized dieticians and nutritionists founded in Germany." From this association the "Association of Dieters - German Federal Association eV" emerged.
The VDD is a member of the International Committee of Dietetic Associations and in 1972 was a founding member of the Committee of Dietetic Associations in the European Community, today's European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians .
