The AGSV Bremen (full name: General Gröpelinger Sportverein von 1908 eV Bremen ) is a sports club from the Bremen district of Gröpelingen . The first soccer team played in the highest amateur league in Bremen for 17 years .

history

The Allgemeine Gröpelinger Sportverein was founded in 1908 by eight young shipyard and industrial workers and banned by the National Socialists in 1933. In 1946 it was re-established. The successful youth work under the direction of Diedrich costs ensured that the club reached the Landesliga Bremen , at that time the second highest division, after two promotions in a row in 1958 . The greatest success in the club's history was winning the state championship in 1963. In the subsequent qualifying round for the Regionalliga Nord , the AGSV, which was only a third class player due to the foundation of the Bundesliga , was overwhelmed and came last. In the following seasons, the team oscillated between mediocrity and relegation battle. In 1973 the AGSV reached fourth place again, before the team left the Bremen upper house in 1975 and relegated to the district league a year later.

Between 1987 and 1990 the Gröpelinger returned to the regional league before two relegations in a row brought the club to the regional league A in 1991. Another double descent made the AGSV relegate to the district class in 1998, before it went down to the 2nd district class in 2010. Between 2011 and 2015, the AGSV did not provide a men's team before a new start was started in the 2nd district class. However, the team was relegated to the 3rd district class and is now playing in the lowest Bremen division.
