The football league Baden-Württemberg 1991/92 was the 15th league season.
The ambitious SSV Reutlingen under Wilfried Gröbner was again champion of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg after 1989 and took part in the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga for the third time within a short time . In this one just missed promotion to the second highest division. SSV Ulm took part in the German amateur championship finals, where the Spatzen took second place behind finalist SpVgg Bad Homburg .
The two newcomers VfB Leimen and the amateurs of the Stuttgarter Kickers were relegated to the lower leagues. In addition, FC Marbach and FV 09 Weinheim were two long-time members of the upper league. It was the last season in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg for both clubs. While in Weinheim you could see league games again years later under a different name, the spectators have not yet been granted that again. In return, VfR Pforzheim from the Baden Association League , SG Lörrach-Stetten from the Südbaden Association League and VfL Kirchheim / Teck from the Württemberg Association League rose directly as the respective relay champions. SC Geislingen from the Württemberg Association League qualified via the promotion round of the runner-ups .

Promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga
As a master of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg SSV Reutlingen met in the promotion round to 2. Bundesliga on SpVgg Unterhaching and Viktoria Aschaffenburg . This promotion round against the ambitious Randmünchener and the traditional Viktoria with coach Werner Lorant was hard to beat in terms of drama. Since all three first legs ended in a draw, all three teams initially had the same number of points. With the much-acclaimed 3-1 home win against Aschaffenburg, Reutlingen initially took the lead. The disillusionment followed five days later in Unterhaching, where the Württemberg team, also handicapped by injuries, lost the game 2-0. Since Aschaffenburg would have been promoted themselves if they won their last game against Unterhaching, it was clear that Reutlingen could no longer be promoted. In the end, however, Unterhaching just won 1-0 in Aschaffenburg and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.
