Wilfried Gröbner (born December 18, 1949 in Eilenburg ) is a former German football player and coach.

Stations as a player

“Willi” Gröbner was a stopper at the height of his career . In his youth he usually played as a striker for BSG Chemie Eilenburg from 1958 to 1967 . From 1964 to 1968 he was a member of the junior team of the Leipzig district, and at the age of 16 he was already playing in the first men's team of the BSG Chemie. On December 3, 1967, his BSG delegated him to 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , where he played in the GDR league until 1980 . The 1.82 meter tall Groebner played his first league point game on the 5th match day of the season 1968/69 as a striker against Stahl Riesa (1: 1). With the Leipzigers he was 1975/76 FDGB cup winner . Overall, Gröbner played 229 league games for Lok and scored 18 goals. When 1. FC Lok had to play in the GDR league after relegation in 1969/70, he was involved in the immediate league resurgence of the trade fair city with three goals in nine point games.

For the GDR national team , Gröbner played eight games between 1976 and 1979, or seven games according to FIFA counts . There are also eight games with the youngsters and one game with the B national team.

In 1976 he took part in the Olympic Games in Montreal and won the gold medal with the GDR Olympic selection . Groebner only played in the final and was substituted on for his club-mate Wolfram Löwe in the 69th minute. Regardless of this, he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze for this success .

Stations as a trainer

After his active career, Wilfried Groebner, who had already earned a diploma as a sports teacher, became a trainer. From 1982 to 1988 he worked for the German Football Association of the GDR , including as an assistant coach and junior coach. In the 1988/89 season he coached FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . From 1990 to June 1993 Gröbner was a trainer at SSV Reutlingen 05 . In the second half of the 1994/95 season he was again coach at SSV Reutlingen. He brought Ralf Rangnick in July 1995 as a trainer and took over the position of manager, which he held until November 2005. From November 15, 2005 to February 28, 2006, Gröbner was a scout at VfL Wolfsburg .

He has been a self-employed financial advisor since December 2006. In April 2007 , Hans Meyer brought him into the scouting team of 1. FC Nürnberg on a fee basis .
