Pierre Péquignat (born on April 5, 1669 or December 20, 1677 in Courgenay ; executed on October 31, 1740 in Porrentruy ) was a well-established farmer. During the revolts from 1726 to 1740, he and other farmers from the Ajoie rebelled against the absolutist rule of the Principality of Basel .

His story was retold in several songs and also in a play. A bust in memory of him has stood in front of Courgenay's town hall since 1914.
