The FC Phoenix Leipzig (official: Women's Football Club Phoenix Leipzig eV ) is a women's football club in Leipzig . The soccer team was promoted to the Regionalliga Nordost in 2019 .
history
The association was founded on February 15, 2017 and was named after the mythological phoenix bird , which burns at the end of its life cycle and emerges from its own ashes. After FFV Leipzig stopped playing during the 2016/17 regional league season because of the dismissals of the players at the end of the season, many FFV players switched to FC Phoenix. This started in the 2017/18 season in the national class north and was able to win all 22 games with a goal difference of 281: 7. Record victory was a 26-0 win at Leipzig FC 07 . The series of successes continued in the 2018/19 national league season. Phoenix remained undefeated, but drew for the first time against DFC Westsachsen Zwickau on Matchday 2 . As champions, the Leipzig women moved into the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nordost, where the team met SC Staaken from Berlin . The first leg in Staaken was lost 0-1, but Phoenix won the second leg 3-1 and rose. In addition, the team reached the final of the Sachsenpokal , which was lost 3-2 to RB Leipzig .
