history

The club was founded in 1950 as a sports club unit Leipzig-South . In the same year the name was changed to BSG Einheit Georg Schwarz Leipzig . As part of the reunification , the association took the name SV Eintracht Leipzig-Süd. In the vernacular , the association will simply ELS called.

In 2004 some young women founded the amateur soccer team Diadora Connewitz . Ten players from this team founded the women's football department at SV Eintracht three years later, which played league games for the first time in 2008. The team achieved three promotions in a row and already played in the Landesliga Sachsen in 2011 . There ELS became champions straight away and prevailed in the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nordost against the Spandauer Kickers and 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04 .

After taking fifth place at the end of the season in the first season , they won the championship ahead of 1. FC Union Berlin in the 2013/14 season . For economic reasons, the Leipzig women did not notice the associated rise and stayed in the regional league.

In the 2014/15 season, SV Eintracht finished third at the end of the season. After the season , a cooperation agreement was signed between SV Eintracht Leipzig-Süd and FFV Leipzig , its first team in the 2nd Bundesliga and its second team in the Regionalliga Nordost, which meant that none in the 2015/16 season Women's team under the name SV Eintracht Leipzig-Süd took over.

After only one season, the cooperation was given up again because the first team of FFV Leipzig relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga to the regional league. For the 2016/17 season, the club started again with its own women's football team, which competed in the State League of Saxony. In the first season, the team finished fifth. In the second season, the team secured the championship title in the Landesliga Sachsen level on points with Chemnitzer FC only because of the better goal difference. To promote promotion to the Regionalliga Nordost , two promotion games were played between the ELS and 1. FFV Erfurt . After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, the women from ELS won 2-1 on the local Südkampfbahn and made it to the regional league after three years of abstinence.

Venue

The home ground is the Südkampfbahn on Raschwitzer Straße. The facility was apparently used by several former clubs, including soccer, until 1945: "Allgemeine Turnverein Leipzig Connewitz", "Spielvereinigung 08 Leipzig Dölitz", "Turnverein Leipzig Connewitz 1858". The former "Leipziger Sportverein Eintracht 1904" was based in the Eintracht sports park near the forester's house in Raschwitz, Coburger Strasse.
