Dieter Lauk

Dieter Lauk (born April 16, 1937 ) is a German table tennis player . He was a GDR national player and was GDR champion eight times.

Career

Lauk began his career at the BSG "Einheit" Auerbach association, where he was supported by sports teacher Klaus Stoppa. In 1956 he moved to SC Lokomotive Leipzig . With his men's team he was GDR champion seven times, namely 1960 to 1965 and 1967. In the European Cup , the team was in the final in 1961 and 1965.

Lauk played with a pimple rubber club surface . In 1962 he won the GDR championships in doubles with Siegfried Lemke . He reached the double end four more times: 1959 with Dieter Knappe , 1960 with Siegfried Lemke, 1964 with Wolfgang Viebig and 1967 again with Siegfried Lemke.

Currently (2019) Lauk plays with SV Eintracht Leipzig-Süd in the 1st city league of the city of Leipzig.

Senior tournaments

Lauk later took part in many senior tournaments. At the Senior World Championships in the age group 65+ he was second in doubles with the Austrian Ernst Wagner. He won the German senior championship in 2003 in single over 65s and a year later in doubles over 65s with Peter Stoltenberg. In 2005 he reached the semi-finals at the European Championships in doubles with Siegfried Lemke .
