The FSV 02 Schwerin (full name: Frauensportverein 02 Schwerin eV ) is a women's football club from Schwerin . The first team plays in the fourth-class association league Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and took part in the DFB Cup seven times .

history

The club goes back to the women's football section of BSG Aufbau Schwerin , which took part in the determination of the best for the first and only time in 1985 . Under the name FC Eintracht Schwerin , they were promoted to the then second-rate Regionalliga Nordost in 2000 and reached fifth place in the promotion season. On April 30, 2002, the women's soccer department of FC Eintracht became independent as FSV 02 Schwerin.

In the first season under the new name, third place was the best place in the club's history. A year later, the team missed the qualification for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga and in 2006 had to relegate to the association league. In 2007 the FSV missed the promotion in the promotion games against 1. FC Lübars . This succeeded a year later, but the Schwerin women were promptly relegated.

The club took part in the DFB Cup seven times and was eliminated in the first round each time. It was the closest in the 2002/03 season , when FSV lost 2-1 to Halleschen FC . The biggest defeat was in the 2007/08 season , when the team lost 9-2 to Herford SV .
