The SV Dirmingen (full name: Sportverein Dirmingen eV 1922 ) is a sports club from Eppelborn in Saarland . The club was founded in 1922 and only offers football . The women's soccer team played in the 2nd Bundesliga for two years .
history
The women's football department was founded in 1971. The first success could be achieved with the district championship as early as 1975 and the team rose to the state league , at that time the top division in Saarland. After a temporary descent, the ascent was achieved again in 1987. In 1993/94 the club grabbed shortly after the Saarland championship, but had to admit defeat to FSV Viktoria Jägersburg 2-0 in a play-off game . Three years later, the women of the SVD were founding members of the Regionalliga Südwest and won the Saarland Cup for the first time. A year later the cup victory was repeated. In the regional league, the club experienced a real roller coaster ride. After two years of relegation battle, the team was runner-up in 1999. Two years later, the club was penultimate and benefited from the withdrawal of the second team from 1. FC Saarbrücken . In 2003 and 2004 Dirmingen was third, followed by two runner-up championships.
In the 2006/07 season, the team made it to the 2nd Bundesliga South. After two years, however, he was relegated to the regional league, followed by voluntary relegation to the association league for financial reasons. In 2013 he was promoted back to the regional league, before going back down to the association league in 2018.
